Managing Your Yodel Profile

Once you've registered a free Yodel account, you'll be able to access your account profile page. The page will open in view-mode, but you can easily change it to edit-mode.

Account Status

There are four main statuses for user accounts:

  1. Pending — New users and recently edited users will show as pending. The user is able to login and use their account features, but they are currently pending review from the Yodel team to approve the account for sending messages.

  2. Active — Once the user has been approved for sending, their status will show as active.

  3. Active (no sending) — If the user was not approved for sending, they will have received a notification regarding the reason. Their account status will show active, as a receiver, but not allow sending until the issue has been resolved and the user account updated, which will put it back to a pending status for review.

  4. Archived — As a user, you can choose to archive or delete your account at any time. Archiving will prevent future login and will remove yourself from being listed as part of any sending groups. Your account remains recoverable, if you wish to reinstate it. You can also chose to fully delete your account, but there is no status for this because your data will be removed from our system.

User Code

An alphanumeric set of characters are displayed on your profile page as your user or account code.

This can be useful in two ways. If you are working with the Yodel support team, they may ask for this as part of troubleshooting. Or if you are trying to be added to a sending group, you can provide an owner or admin of the group with your user code so that they can send you an invitation to join.

Your Name

When registering or editing your profile, you will enter your first and last name. Yodel will use this in communications with you, and it will show up as the sender of any messages you choose to send as yourself or as part of a sending group if you specify that your name should be shown in addition to the group's display name.

Yodel asks users to sign up with their real name. We like our interactions with you to be friendly and personal — it's great when we can call you by your name. As a sender, using your real name builds authenticity and trust with your audience.

If you want to send messages under a business, company, or organizational name, then we have sending groups for that purpose.

Email Address

Your email address is required during registration. An email will be sent to this address asking you to confirm your ownership. Even without confirmation, you are free to login and use your account features, however, if you wish to send messages through Yodel, you will have to verify your email belongs to you.

If you did not receive the email verification, you can resend it through your account profile page.

Phone Number

Adding a phone number to your profile is not required. You can be approved as a sender without doing so. However, if you wish to receive SMS text message notifications, you will need to add a phone number capable of receiving SMS.

When you enter a phone number, a text will be sent to your phone with a verification code. You can enter that on your account profile page to confirm that you own the phone number you have added.

Primary Address

Your account's primary address is intended to be your home address. You can only have one primary address, but you are able to add additional receiving addresses, areas, and routes.

When registering, you are encouraged to add a primary address so that you can receive messages sent to your local area, and gain the benefits of controlling how you receive messages from senders using Yodel.

If you need to use another address for receiving postal mail, there is an option to enter an alternate mailing address in the account settings page. This can allow you to save a P.O. Box, for example.

Change Password

Your profile page allows you to change your password. If you attempt to change your password here, you'll need to enter your current password and a new password.

However, if you have forgotten your current password, even if you are currently logged in, you would need to use the forgot password feature to reset it.

Archive or Delete Your Account

Yodel allows you to archive or delete your account at any time. Using the "Delete Account" link on your profile page will ask you if you want to archive or fully delete.

If you select archive, we will immediately archive your Yodel account. This prevents log in and will stop any scheduled messages being sent from your account. Notifications from Yodel will no longer be sent, but your account will remain in our system. You can recover and restore your settings and preferences at a later date.

A full delete will completely remove all your data from the Yodel system. This process may take several business days to be completed. When this option is selected, we will immediately archive your account until the full deletion is complete. Once your account is fully deleted, all references in our database will be gone and you will not be able to recover related preferences, settings, messages, and uploads.
