Midwest Mentality
Yodel was proudly born and raised in the heartland of the United States. The midwest is known for a strong work ethic due to its agricultural roots and hard-working farmers as well as the larger industrial cities like Detroit, Chicago, and Cleveland. Yodel's company culture carries on the focused and diligent legacy of our region.
Providing a Service
The idea that triggered the creation of Yodel was a need to communicate to small local areas and get messages out more easily to specific communities based on their geographic location. This could be as small as a few houses, a street, a block, a neighborhood, a route, or a political district. Or it could be as large as a town, a city, or even counties and parishes.
Having noticed the lack of simplicity in existing options for publishing and distributing messages to areas like this, the founder of Yodel started thinking about how the problem could be solved in a way that delighted both the sender and receiver.
Company History
Like many ideas, Yodel started with a small spark. The very first notion of what would become Yodel was in June of 2016, when our founder was considering some local road closure signs on the side of the road. Neighbors in the area were unaware of the scope of the work, when it would begin, or when it would be completed. The idea to improve this was interesting, but it sat as a mere concept for several years.
Our founder would periodically devote time to speaking with potential senders (customers) who might like to use the service, asking friends and family how they'd feel about being a receiver of local messages, and doing some initial proof-of-concept development work. But at that time it was an insignificant investment of time.
2020-2022 were helpful years toward Yodel's inception. With the global pandemic keeping people home, additional data and development tests were able to be built, and financial potential was investigated. The intrigue was there and the idea became realistic.
In early 2023, it became official when Yodel was registered as an LLC with the state of Indiana. The development had reached a point where it was nearly ready to launch, and simply needed a few business relationships to be set up under an official business entity.
In April of 2024, yodel.co was publicly launched in beta mode servicing only locations within Indiana.
