Adding Receiving Locations
You may be interested in areas other than your home address.
Yodel will send messages based on geographic location. Senders select a local area or community as their audience. This works great for the sender. However, as a receiver, you may want more.
Your Primary Location
When you first set up your Yodel account, we will prompt you to add your first location by entering your address. Normally this is your home address. This will allow you to have immediate access to any local area messages that may apply to you.
By default, your first address created will be marked as your primary location and listed as part of your account profile.
After you have added other receiving addresses (see below), you can change which one is considered your primary.
Add Receiving Address Locations
Yodel's goal is to deliver local area messages to the appropriate audience. But delivering the messages to the street addresses in the area is only half of the audience. There are other people who may be interested in a given area who do not live there.
When you are logged in to your account, you can visit your receiving locations list to review, edit, or add new locations.
Here are some common receiving addresses to add to your account:
Primary Home Address
Other Family Member Addresses
Second Home or Vacation Home
School or University Housing
Work-Related Addresses
You can name each location you create so that it is easy for you to recognize. Your name will only be seen by you. You can keep the name simple like "Home" and "Work", or you can be more specific like "Gulf Shores Bungalow" and "Lower Eastside Apartment".
With each address you add, you can optionally mark it as your primary location (as described above). You can mark and verify yourself as the "sole recipient" which means that your notification settings can prevent a postcard from still being mailed to the street address. You can also mark yourself as a multi-unit manager (Owner, Landlord, or Property Manager) where you can receive a copy of all messages while your tenants still receive theirs.
Add Receiving Areas
Areas allow you to expand beyond a single address. This can be helpful in many scenarios where you are interested in local messages that overlap your defined area.
Here are some common reasons to add additional receiving areas:
Adjacent Properties - It may be helpful to be aware of messages that affect your immediate neighbors.
Roads & Streets - Maybe you want to catch any messages that are sent to other addresses on your street but may have excluded your specific address.
Neighborhoods & Communities - A larger area of awareness so you can be aware of any messages nearby that might affect your or your neighbors.
Driving Routes - By creating an area that covers your driving route, you can get advance notice of anything that may interrupt your commute.
You can name each receiving area you create so that it is easy for you to recognize. Your name will only be seen by you. You can keep the name simple like "My Neighborhood" and "Office Campus", or you can be more specific like "North End of Asbury Pointe" and "Work Commute (Hwy 41-S)".
