Approvals for Senders and Messages
In order to maintain quality, to ensure safety and security guidelines are met, and to abide by state and federal legal requirements, Yodel reviews messages before sending. This approval process takes place at two levels: approval of senders and approval of messages.
Approval of Individual Senders
When a new user registers with Yodel, they can immediately begin using our services as a receiver, but they are not yet an approved sender.
An unapproved sender can start to create message drafts and can create sending locations (addresses and areas). But they cannot send messages to these audiences until Yodel has approved their account for sending. During user approval review, Yodel looks for the following:
The user's account must include their real name.
The user's email address must be verified.
The user's account must be in good standing with Yodel.
All Yodel terms, conditions, and guidelines are met.
Approval of Sending Groups
When a new sending group is created, it is not yet an approved sender.
An unapproved group can have members who can start to create message drafts and can create sending locations (addresses and areas). But the messages cannot be sent to these audiences until Yodel has approved the group for sending. Even if the group member creating the message is approved for sending, if the group itself is not also approved then it cannot be used as the sender of a message. During group approval review, Yodel looks for the following:
The group's information appears to be legitimate and trustworthy.
The group's email address must be verified.
If the group has uploaded a representative image or logo, it is an appropriate image and of good quality.
If the group has added a web address, it brings up a functional website and the content is appropriate.
The group and its members must be in good standing with Yodel.
All Yodel terms, conditions, and guidelines are met.
Approval of Messages
Once a sender is approved and a message has been scheduled, Yodel will review each message before it is approved to send out to the selected local audiences. This message approval step happens before any payment is taken, and Yodel reserves the right to decline sending any messages deemed unfit to send. During message approval review, Yodel looks for the following:
Overall message must meet content guidelines.
The subject line and body text should be easy to understand.
The image or accompanying map graphic should be relevant and focused.
Target date must be within required lead times for printing and sending.
The selected sender or sending group must be approved.
Chosen audiences should be applicable to the message being sent.
Quality of the overall message should be reasonable.
All Yodel terms, conditions, and guidelines are met.
Yodel's Approval Decisions are Final
Yodel reserves the right to use any means at our disposal to verify a sender or group for legitimacy and to refuse service to anyone deemed to be an unfit sender or attempting to send a questionable message.
If Yodel chooses to not approve a sender or message and the reason is outside of the topics listed on this page, it is still in Yodel's right to control what is allowed to send out through our system.
