Getting Responses from Recipients

Most direct mail programs don't make it easy for the recipients to respond to you, unless it is a specific call-to-action within the mailer itself, which is biased toward one desired response. The recipient is left to figure out how to reply on their own, if they care to spend the time to figure it out.

With messages sent through Yodel, the recipient can create a free Yodel account that allows them to respond to you and other senders, as well as gaining a number of other benefits for receiving messages through Yodel.

Reactions

The simplest form or response a receiver can give through Yodel is a quick like or dislike — just as they are used to using is social media apps. Even email doesn't allow this simple interaction which can give the sender valuable information about their message.

Replies

Receivers of your message can also send a short text reply. This response type allows the receiver to type anything that they like. The length of the reply is capped so that brevity and conciseness is encouraged.

Responses to Postal Mailings

Most people will receive messages via postcard in the postal mail. When someone receives your message in this way, they have the option of using the mailer to connect to their Yodel account where they can easily respond with a written reply or reaction. You will receive notice of the responses based on your notification preferences, and they are available on the Yodel website too.

The mailer also has a Quick Code that can streamline the recipient connecting their home address to their Yodel account so that they can control other aspects of messages they receiver through Yodel — even from other senders!

Responses Through Email

Some users may choose to receive messages via email. When someone receives your message in this way, they are given links to easily respond online. You will receive notice of the responses based on your notification preferences, and they are available on the Yodel website too.

Responses in SMS Text

Some users may choose to receive messages via SMS text message. When someone receives your message in this way, they are provided a link to view your message and can respond online. You will receive notice of the responses based on your notification preferences, and they are available on the Yodel website too.

Anonymous by Default

Responses to your messages are intentionally anonymous by default. Reactions (like/dislike) will only show a count of users. Written replies will show the user's typed message, but it will be anonymous unless they chose to include personal contact information.

Message Blocking

Users are also allowed to block you or your group as a sender after receiving a message from you. They may not have liked your message, found it irrelevant, or simply want to receive fewer messages. This process helps focus your audience on those who appreciate your messages, and will reduce the price to send future messages to the same audience.
