Digital Message Sends Don't Look Correct
The appearance of your digitally delivered messages are just as important as the printed versions. If you set up your message and noticed that the final emails, web views, or SMS texts delivered were not displaying well, we need to look into the root cause of what happened.
Yodel aims to make sure all digital message sends look as you would expect them to. The appearance of the final message is a reflection on you, or your sending group, as much as it is a reflection on us. Our goal is to have nice, professional digital views of your message.
Expected & Acceptable Variation
There will always be some variation in the display of your message in the various digital channels. The sheer number of devices alone make it impossible to know exactly how things will look in every possible combination. It is an imperfect science.
Yodel tries to keep messages simplistic for this very reason. The simpler the better.
Some color variation should be expected. No two screens are exactly the same. Some screens tint to them – appearing more red, yellow, blue, etc.
There are differences in screen pixel density which can affect how sharp or pixelated an image looks. In some cases this can cause the image to appear a little blurry.
Display fonts can differ from device to device. If the chosen fonts are not available, the device will fall back to its default. For this reason, Yodel sets common fonts found on a wide variety of operating systems.
Email, especially, can have default settings where the display may prevent images from loading unless the user clicks to load them. These types of browser/client features are beyond the control of Yodel, and must be accepted as common practice.
Most digital devices, whether a computer monitor or a mobile screen, allow the user to control settings for how things are displayed such as:
Zoom
Font Size
Screen Brightness
Dark Mode
High Contrast Modes
Other Accessibility Settings
When digital messages get forwarded on to others, they can become even more unpredictable. If the issue arrives after having been forwarded, there is no realistic expectation that everything will continue to display like the original send.
Unacceptable Errors
There are certain types of unacceptable issues when your message is being displayed digitally:
Bad links, if a supplied link URL does not work (if it is a Yodel issue).
Broken images, even after a user confirms the download images.
Layout issues that cause overlaps or truncation.
Incorrect text or images, where they do not match what you saved and approved.
When there are unacceptable errors with digital display, please ensure you have retained proof with screenshots or screen recordings. You may be asked to forward on the message for review by Yodel. The best proof, though not required, would include more than one example of delivery that shows the issue. Yodel cannot be expected to address each and every one-off display issue for recipients.
In cases where there is a clear error with the digital message sends, please begin by reaching out to our support team using our online contact form. We review these situations on a case-by-case basis. Our team will communicate with you on finding a resolution which can include a full or partial refund of your payment depending on how severe the issue is, how pervasive it is, and if the desired message was conveyed to your audience or not.
