Problems with Audiences
Geographic area and street address selection is how Yodel enables you or your sending group to select target audiences. You can focus on local communities, neighborhoods, or areas.
You can add sending locations by visiting your sending locations page.
Selecting Addresses
Yodel allows you to start typing an address while adding a sending address. As you type potential matches will appear as auto-suggestions. Once you've entered enough to see the address you want, select it from the list and the on-screen map will update to show the location. At this point you don't need to worry about apartment numbers or other sub-units.
If the location on the map looks good, click the "This is Correct" button and Yodel will ask for some additional information including apartment or suite numbers before saving the location in your sending addresses.
Selecting Geographic Areas
Sending areas are the most effective way to select your target audience based on their geographic locale. Simply use the add sending area page.
When you add an area, you'll be given a map with drawing tools where you can use create the shape or route that best identifies the audience you are wanting to communicate to. The map is fully interactive where you can zoom, pan, and view satellite images to help you get your selection right.
If you are using the free-form polygon tool, you'll need to make sure that you close the shape by moving from your last point and clicking back on the first point.
When your shape is complete, press the "Save Area" button and Yodel will ask for some additional information before saving the location in your sending areas.
Archived Locations
You can archive any saved sending locations. This will move them off of your main list where they are easily retrieved if you ever want to. Archived locations are not selectable as a message audience unless you restore them.
Within the archive tab of the locations you can view what you have archived, restore them, or delete them completely.
Sending Locations Within Groups
Sending locations are saved per individual user. This can prove tricky for sending groups and can sometimes be a bit confusing.
When you create a new message draft, it won't be considered a group message until you select a group as the sender. Once that is done, then other members of your group can also see the message.
At this point any group member can edit the message and add audiences (sending locations). If you add some of your sending locations to the message audience list, then your fellow group members will be able to see your named locations too. Likewise, if someone else adds theirs, you will be able to see their named locations associated with that group message.
