Issues Related to Blocked Senders

If you have received a message from a sender that you do not like, Yodel provides the option of blocking senders. Easily take control of which messages get through to you by blocking the people or groups that you do not want to hear from.

You can only block senders that have already sent you a message. And, you can review your blocked senders list at any time to remove the block if you wish.

Blocking Different Types of Senders

There are two kinds of senders that can be shown in three different ways:

  1. Individual Sender

  2. Group Sender

  3. Combined Individual + Group Sender

Blocking any of these types works the same way. Just find a message from the sender you wish to block and use the available message controls to place a block on them.

For an individual user you have blocked, you will no longer receive messages from them as the sender from either the types #1 or #3 listed above. However, that individual may be part of a group sender (#2), and if their name is not combined (#3), then you'll still receive messages from the group.

If you blocked a group sender (#2), then any messages that match that group from types #2 or #3 listed above will be blocked. However, any individual senders (#1) who may belong to that group would still be able to send you messages.

But if you receive a message sent by a combined sender (#3), when you block their message, you are blocking both the individual and the group at the same time. In this case your block will prevent messages from all types #1, #2, and #3.

Error Message When Trying to Block

When you block a sender, the Yodel page should alert you to any errors if they occur. The error message itself should give you an idea as to what went wrong.

In most cases, an error would be a one-off issue. You should try again and the block may work. If you continue to have issues, please reach out to our support team using our online contact form.

A Message from a Blocked Sender was Still Received

If you have a blocked sender, but you are still receiving messages from them, consider the types of senders listed above and confirm that there isn't a difference in what you blocked and the sender that is still getting through to you. If there is a difference, all you need to do is block the new sender type also.

If you are confident that your block matches the sender that is still reaching you, it could be an indication of a bad actor trying to create multiple senders within the Yodel system by using the same name but different account. We try to monitor for this and prevent misuse by senders. If this is happening, please contact our support team so that we can take corrective action.
