Problems Managing Locations

Your receiving locations and your sending locations can consist of street addresses and areas that you've created or linked to your account.

Addresses

Physical addresses are a special case in Yodel. The data that we use is from sources with street and infrastructure information. This data exists even without anyone creating an address in our system.

Our address data is updated regularly with new, modified, or removed locations. Without this process, our system would become inefficient and inaccurate. This workflow can also be the cause of confusion or issues related to your locations.

When adding a new location address, you'll type in the address and we'll display matching results that you can select from. Once selected, the map screen centers and zooms on the location and you need to click the "This is Correct" button. From there, you'll be asked some additional questions to make sure we have all the relevant information.

If you are unable to find your desired location using the map selector, then you may get stuck. If this is the case, reach out to our support team and we'll assist you in getting it added.

The map selector will not recognize individual apartment numbers (or similar sub-units), so just select your street address and then Yodel will confirm if you need to enter a unit number.

Your first entered receiving address will become your default primary location. You can change this by adding more addresses and setting a different one as your primary.

If you view and edit details for an address location, you have the opportunity to change some of your custom information about it, but it will not let you change the street address data itself – that data comes form other sources.

You can archive your addresses if you don't plan to use them or wish to reduce the messages you receive. Once archived you are able to restore or completely delete them from your account.

Areas

Receiving and sending areas are created and defined by you. Using a map control, you can create a shape around the area of interest.

When creating your area using a polygon, you will need to close the shape by connecting the last point back to the first point by clicking on the first point again.

Areas are initially private to you. No one else can see them unless you are part of a sending group and have selected your area as part of a group message's audience. Other group members will see your area name and other details if it is being used for a group message.

When you open the details of an area, you can switch to edit mode where you can rename it or modify the shape on a map.

When viewing information for your sending areas, it will show the estimated count of known addresses along with the physical area metric (physical size of the location). These may not be perfectly accurate. Address counts may not include all sub-units like apartments, and the count shown here will not exclude recipients who have chosen to block you as a sender. The final address count will be determined as your message's target date approaches and a final price is determined.

You can archive your areas if you don't plan to use them or wish to reduce the messages you receive. Once archived you are able to restore or completely delete them from your account.
