I Received a Message Not Meant for Me
If you have received a message sent through Yodel that seems like you were not the intended recipient, there may be a few potential causes for this.
Sender's Audience Selection
When a sender selects their audiences for a message, they use addresses or geographic areas to focus on their target recipients.
It is possible that the sender accidentally included locations that they did not intend to. Or when selecting a local area or using address data, they may have inadvertently included more than they should have.
Your Receiving Locations
Similar to senders selecting the wrong audience, as a receiver, you can also select receiving addresses and local areas for which you want to receive messages.
It is possible that your receiving locations could be incorrectly set up, or even that you have forgotten that you had some set up that you no longer are interested in. Review your lists of addresses and areas to confirm that they match what you want to receive messages for.
Error in Geolocation Data
Yodel works diligently with our data providers to try and keep our address data up-to-date and accurate. Despite best efforts it is entirely possible that there may be errors in our data. This is also covered in our disclaimers.
Incorrect address data can cause an unintended message to reach you.
Irrelevant Topic
Keep in mind that messages are sent out to a geographic locality of which the sender may not know all the recipients. Receivers may be from multiple included communities, for instance, they may differ between residential and commercial audiences.
This may help understand that even though you aren't an ideal recipient for the message, you may be receiving one that blankets your neighbors who may be more appropriate for the message.
Responding to the Sender
If you've received a message that you do not think should have been sent to you, let the Yodel help and support team know about is so that we can review the audience matching logic. But you can also reply to the sender and let them know about the situation, allowing them to review their audience selection.
Blocking the Sender
If you recognize that you'll never be interested in messages from this sender, you also have the option to block the sender. This will prevent all future messages from them.
Still Think Something is Wrong?
